MANAGER Karl Gormley says Worcester Raiders are in confident mood ahead of Saturday's West Midlands League Premier Division clash at AFC Bridgnorth (3pm).

Gormley admitted last weekend’s trip to Dudley Town was a step “into the unknown” following their promotion from Division One. But Raiders picked up from where they left off as they claimed a morale-boosting 4-3 victory at Noose Lane.

“It was a cracking result,” Gormley said.

“I wasn’t surprised as I know how good the players are.

"But it was like going into the unknown as we didn’t know what the league above was going to be like.

“We now know we can hold our own which has given us that extra bit of confidence.”

Raiders are set to be without defender Glen Sitch who is struggling with a groin issue while midfielder Kirk Layton is away on his honeymoon.

Striker Roland Krol is expected to remain on the wing after bagging two goals in the win at Dudley.

“I had a chat with (my assistant) Chris Cornes before the game and he thought it would be a good idea to try 4-5-1 with Roland on the wing,” Gormley added.

“It worked as he had a really good game.”
