BOSS Ashley Vincent revealed how Dan Okojie’s “rare” game-changing ability inspired his signing for Worcester City.
The fleet-footed left-sided player has been snapped up from Walsall Wood, giving City a bounty of options on that side with Jamie Smith and Adam Osbourne already on the books.
But with the summer appointment seeking more “bite”, pocket rocket Okojie’s addition was a no-brainer according to the Worcester’s gaffer.
“We have had an eye on him since last season,” said Vincent.
“I remember us being comfortable up at their place and they brought him on as a sub to play left wing-back.
“It is a rare a player coming on in that position changes the game like he did, I have seen him play that role numerous times since and think he adds that bit of bite.
“The way I ask the side to play, in an aggressive way, fits with what Dan does, he is proactive and while he is not the tallest I don’t think that matters.
“He has a big heart, bags of energy and I think he will add the added aggression I am looking for.”
Okojie is not the only new signing available for Sunday’s Midland Football League Premier Division trip to Selston (1pm) with striker Sean Brain coming into contention
Defender Craig Jones is likely to be back from a dead leg but backline colleague Nat Kelly (ruptured Achilles) misses out with striker Jak Jeys is “at least another “couple of weeks away” from playing.
“Shan (Kincade, City’s sports therapist) will be taking another look and Jak is waiting on an appointment with a knee doctor,” added Vincent.
City’s trip to the East Midlands Counties League champions was switched from its original Saturday slot following a request made by the host club.
