DALE Albutt secured the Protyre Motorsport Ginetta GT5 Challenge Am Class title in only his second full year in racing.

Out of 18 races the 32-year-old from Great Witley claimed five wins, seven seconds, three thirds, two fourths and a fifth place on the way.

The driver for Yorkshire-based Quattro Motorsport bagged four pole positions and three fastest laps during the season.

But a three-way title battle in the competitive class was only settled on the final weekend at Donington Park in favour of Albutt.

Last season Albutt competed as a privateer entrant and progressed well to finish fourth in the class standings with a breakthrough podium finish at Knockhill, Scotland.

The GT5 Challenge 2019 race calendar included Oulton Park, Thruxton, Silverstone, Zandvoort in Holland and Snetterton.

Ginetta racing has helped the careers of the likes of F1 driver Lando Norris and British Touring Car Championship competitor Tom Ingram.

Albutt said: “I’m hopeful of moving up to the next step in the motorsport ladder, either Ginetta GT4 Supercup, which supports the BTCC, or the British GT Championship.

“It’s a massive relief to be crowned champion. It was quite a stressful time with a long break after Snetterton but it came together for us in the opening race (at Donington).

“The whole team has been pushing me all season and now it’s paid off. I’m truly delighted to take the title.”

Worcestershire-born Albutt has previously lived in Kidderminster and Martley.

He is looking for sponsorship and support. Anyone interested can email dalealbuttracing@hotmail.com or visit @albuttracing on Facebook.
