VALE sprint hurdler Heather Paton is reflecting on another successful season that saw her climb to second in the United Kingdom rankings and secure a new personal best.
Only Cindy Ofili, who finished fourth in the 2016 Olympic Games, sits above Paton in the women’s 100-metre hurdles standings.
Paton, a former Pershore High School pupil, lowered her personal best to 13.22 seconds and set a new Scottish record in the process following an impressive run at the London Inter Club Challenge in Hendon in late August.
Earlier that month the 23-year-old represented Scotland in the Belfast International, winning silver in the hurdles and gold in the relay.
The 4x100m relay team broke the previous national record which had stood for more than 30 years.
Other highlights for Paton in August included claiming gold in the hurdles and silver in the 4x100m relay at the Manchester International before being selected to run at the IAAF Diamond League in Birmingham.
The Birchfield Harriers athlete now hold four Scottish records and is looking for sponsorship after moving her training base to Loughborough.
