The first half was eventful with Hitchin’s Ben Walster thumping a penalty well over after Sporting keeper Tony Breeden had brought down Alex Marsh.

Richard Gregory kept his cool from 12 yards following a handball but Leon Broadhurst bundled into his own net after a mistake by Kyle Lincoln to level matters for Town.

Mike Taylor hit the post before the break and Bromsgrove had the better openings in the second half prior to McDonald’s curling 20-yard free-kick.

However, Webb had the last laugh.

Mitch Botfield’s moment of quality provided a rare highlight in a tight match to pocket a 1-1 draw for Alvechurch at Needham Market.

Botfield levelled matters with a forceful driving run and finish past Marcus Garnham, cancelling out Joe Marsden’s delicious free-kick for the home side.

The home side’s James Baker had an early bath, sent off for a second bookable offence shortly after they had gone close to retaking the lead.

Struggling Redditch United succumbed in the final half an hour of a 3-0 loss at Nuneaton Borough.

The hosts had the better of it and opened the floodgates through Luke Benbow’s penalty following a foul on Ryan Edmunds.

Alex Henshall centred for Joel Kettle to thump in number two in the 71st minute and Benbow rounded off the scoring with a delightful free-kick in added time.

Evesham United and Halesowen Town will do it all again on Tuesday after a 1-1 draw in the FA Trophy preliminary round.

Montel Gibson laid on the opener for Ashley Sammons by rounding Robins keeper Lochie Robertson 15 minutes in.

However, Evesham had plenty of openings and secured a replay through recent signing Harry Franklin’s header 12 minutes from time.

Hereford twice halved the deficit from two down but could not find a leveller in the final half an hour, going down 3-2 at Bradford Park Avenue in National North.

Hunt was dismissed soon after the second but the Hillsiders, who fielded ex-City hitman Dave Reynolds from the bench, made it through thanks to Moran’s double in the extra 30.

In Midland Football League Premier Division, Stourport Swifts twice fought back from behind to draw 3-3 at Selston.
