WORCESTER girls’ under 18s edged past local rivals Old Halesonians 17-14 in their second cup regional pool game.

After a convincing 47-0 win over Old Richians, Evelyn Clarke, Abbie Smitheman and Anna Stowell scored tries to see off the visitors who arrived as favourites.

Sustained pressure from the start resulted in Clarke bursting through to score with Melissa Tout converting.

This was followed by an opportunist break out by forward Smitheman giving a well-deserved lead of 12-0.

But a kick-and-chase by Old Hales led to a converted second-half try.

Shortly afterwards a yellow card for Worcester and another Old Hales score put them ahead.

But committed play from Worcester was rewarded in the last minute when Stowell dived over.

The under 15s won convincingly 56-10 in their cup game against Old Hales.

Worcester’s under 13s triumphed 35-15 in a home friendly with Cheltenham North.
