WORCESTER City Amateur Boxing Club's Layton Butler fought four times in a week as he reached the Midlands final of the National Association of Boys' Clubs.

First up for the 16-year-old was Jon Alleyne of Hall Green who lasted until the second round when Butler stopped him with a jarring body punch.

The next opponent two days later was Mo Zubaer of Wellington ABC.

The hard-punching Butler stopped Zubaer for an eight count in the third on his way to a comfortable points win.

Opponent number three was Amrit Singh of Warley, a skilful southpaw who tested Butler's boxing ability.

He came through the test without too much concern to win on points, dishing out a standing count in round three following a hard right to the head.

In his fourth bout the Worcester teenager faced Ed Norton from Fusion ABC in the Midlands final.

Norton had great counter-punching skills and caught Butler on the way in.

His opponent was well ahead on points going into the third round but Butler began to apply the pressure.

A straight right to the head of Norton stopped him in his tracks but was not enough for Butler to impress the judges.

Norton was declared the Midlands champion by way of a split decision.

Butler deserves a lot of credit for his fitness and determination to box four times in the space of a week.
