Summary

LIVE: Worcester City v Newark Flowserve

Our live feed has now finished.

  • FT: City 3 (Adaggio 63, Brown 79, Harrison 81) Newark 2 (Goodson 15, 70)
  • DAN Jezeph produced a Gordon Banks-style save to seal a sixth win in seven for Worcester City.
  • Ashley Vincent’s men did it the hard way, twice coming back from behind to trump Newark Flowserve 3-2 at the Victoria Ground.
  • The visitors were direct from the off and caused problems, Zak Goodson a fraction away from converting a low bobbling centre inside 10 minutes.
  • Ben Hutchinson hit the angle of post and bar, connecting with a corner from beyond the far post but the ex-Celtic man helped break the deadlock, nudging into Goodson who got past Craig Jones to finish low across Jezeph one-on-one in the 15th minute.
  • City found it tough going but had a glimmer of hope when Demetri Brown was close to sliding in on Liam Lockett’s quickfire cross.
  • Newark walked the disciplinary tightrope on occasion but benefited from decisions and might have doubled their lead just before the break when Goodson again went close to connecting with another low, bobbling centre.
  • City pressed more after the interval but could have conceded a second from a scrappy corner, Hutchinson lifting over from six yards.
  • The turning point came on the hour mark when Marco Adaggio and Chris Withington entered the action, the former scoring within three minutes.
  • Luke Rowe fed Lockett who shaped to shoot only to touch to the free Adaggio who lifted over the advancing Joe Searson-Smithard.
  • Adaggio nearly had two in seven minutes but saw his header fly off target yet it was City who got caught with another sucker punch with 20 minutes to go.
  • Goodson raced at Jones who got caught under a long ball with the Flowserve man coolly finishing under Jezeph.
  • Adaggio had the ball in the net with 15 minutes to go only to be flagged offside but the leveller soon arrived, Brown driving through a mass of bodies from a half-cleared Lockett free-kick.
  • Brown was immediately replaced by Jordan Harrison who was hooked in down the left by Adaggio to lob across Searson-Smithard and complete the turnaround within two minutes of coming on.
  • Newark laboured in attack and City should have sealed the deal through Sean Brain who twice fluffed his line one-on-one from six yards.
  • And there could have been a sting in the tail only for Jezeph to scoop out of the bottom corner and against the bar in stoppage time.
