WARRIORS.

8 HEWARD – an exceptional first senior outing for the teenager who handled well under the high ball, made some big hits and marked his debut with a try. My man of the match.

6 Pennell – suffered a blow to the head when Wainwright crashed over and the Warriors star had to be replaced by Simpson who slotted in well.

8 Lawrence – got more involved as the match wore on as he crossed for a second-half try before producing a superb break and then assist for Kitto’s score.

7 Mills – smashed over from close range for Warriors’ opening try and caused Dragons problems but his tendency to offload out of a tackle did not always pay off.

6 David – won a couple of aerial duals but struggled to make an impact in attack as Dragons put in a resilient defensive shift when down to 14 men.

7 Shillcock – landed all six of his kicks including a long-range penalty to get Warriors off the mark but made the odd sloppy mistake that created a lack of fluidity.

7 Heaney – kicked solidly and tried to get Warriors on the front foot with some sniping runs but was unable to make things click in attack with his deliveries.

6 Bower – an emotional day for the prop who made his 100th appearance but got on with the job at hand and was steady at scrum time.

7 Moulds – looks a dynamic hooker as he made a few surging runs and aside from one misplaced throw he hit his targets at the lineout.

6 Carey – popped up in attack with some tidy passing but did not always get his way in the scrum as loosehead Harris tried to turn the screw.

7 Kitchener – had a busy day in the lineout but it operated well and he even chipped in with a steal while also proving a hard nut to crack in defence.

6 Clegg – got stuck in from the first minute with a couple of early carries and continued to contribute with strong work in the set-piece and in defence.

7 Dodd – another solid showing from the back-rower who looks a different animal this season as he often got beyond the gain line with powerful surges.

6 Cox – put in a robust defensive display as his thumping hit forced Davies to spill the ball late on and made the odd carry into Dragons’ half.

7 van Velze – a mixed afternoon for the number eight whose clean break sent Warriors on their way before Lawrence’s score but then spilled the restart.
