WORCESTER City Amateur Boxing Club came away with two gold medals and two silvers from the Riviera Box Cup in Torquay.

Welterweight Pat Morgan was up against Jai DaCosta Green, of White Hart Lane ABC, in the semi-finals.

Morgan felt the power of the Londoner on several occasions with hard left hooks rocking the city fighter.

He started to settle in the second and out-box Green.

A close contest saw Morgan through on a split decision to the final where he faced Carl Pompary, of Mayflower ABC.

Both had similar boxing styles although Morgan always seemed to come out better during each exchange.

To top a solid performance he gave Pompary a standing count in the third after a series of hard combinations.

A unanimous decision gave Morgan the gold medal.

Junior Tyler Bryce boxed Kevin McKay in the final and despite his best efforts lost on a split decision.

To Bryce's credit he had been unwell during the week but was determined to box.

His punches lacked sharpness which was the telling factor in defeat.

Junior James Scarrott also picked up a silver medal after losing to Liam McCluskey, of Torbay ABC, on a split decision.

McCluskey's southpaw style and counter-punching skills just gave him the edge in a close contest.

Junior Ryan Jones was awarded gold after his opponent failed to turn up for the final.

Jones was looking forward to showcasing his skills after a run of impressive performances but had a walkover.
