CHELTENHAM League Division One leaders Malvern Vale hammered basement boys Newton 10-0.

After three away wins on the bounce Vale returned home to net after just six minutes when Jack Lin fired home his first goal for the club from inside the box.

Top scorer Ameer Khan netted five minutes later and on 20 minutes Andre Rodrigues rounded the keeper to slot into an empty net.

Minutes before half-time Lin turned and fired the ball into the roof of the net.

Remy Gordon’s pace caused problems and Vale won a penalty on 58 minutes with Lin stepping up to get his hat-trick.

Two minutes later Gordon left new signing Ben Harrington with a simple finish for his debut goal.

On 68 minutes Vale won their second penalty and Khan scored his second of the game.

Harrington's effort cannoned off the bar and with 15 minutes left Anthony Cakebread slotted a chance home after going through.

Five minutes later Nick Jones rounded the keeper and added to the tally.

When Cakebread got fouled in the box Khan's penalty was saved to deny him a hat-trick.

But with a couple of minutes to go Ryan Knowles emphatically fired in the 10th goal.

Fourth-placed Hanley Swan crashed 5-0 at home to Whaddon United who are second.

On Saturday, Vale and Hanley are on the road at Kings and Bredon Reserves respectively.

David Walker scored as Welland Reserves lost 2-1 at home to Smiths Barometrics Athletic Reserves in Division Two.

Malvern Vale Reserves fell 5-1 at Tewkesbury Town Reserves in Division Three with Ashley Dallow on target.

In Midland League Division Three, Welland saw off visitors WLV Sport 2-1 but Upton Town fell 4-1 at Continental Star.

Upton host leaders AFC Solihull on Saturday while Welland go to Shipston Excelsior.
