In the Junior Premier League, Kyle Clayton opened the scoring for City before Henry Guy and Ashton Doyle added a brace apiece in a 5-3 win over Stoke RTC.

The under 13s and 15s both played Stourbridge and lost despite scoring three goals each.

Their older counterparts battled back from 3-0 down to level thanks to Reece Day (2) and an own goal only to be edged out in a seven-goal thriller.

The under 21s had the best of the early exchanges in their Midland Football League West Division fixture at Boldmere St Michaels and looked destined for a deserved point before conceding a scrappy goal five minutes from time.

Also losing by the odd goal after twice leading were the reserves who were undone 3-2 by a trio of set-pieces against Cadbury Athletic.

Joe Clarke and Matt Ennis netted either side of the break for second-placed City.

City Lionesses , the club’s new under 11s girls' side, enjoyed their first league fixture against Kidderminster Harriers who also provided the opposition for the under 10s boys.

The under sevens produced another impressive display against Bromsgrove Sporting while the under 11s defied illness amongst their ranks to put up a spirited performance in their Mercian Fortis Junior League match with Areley Kings.

Waterlogged pitches meant there were no fixtures for the under 18s, 16s, 14s and nines.
