WORCESTERSHIRE Virtue Dodgeball Club ended the year on a high at the regional winter leagues.

They won the Midlands under 14s category and were runners-up in the West Midlands adults section on points difference.

The younger team embarked on an unbeaten streak in the league after losing their first game.

Club head coach and founder Brian Williams said: “The team consisted primarily of players who had only began playing this year and to see them defeat some of the best teams in England was astounding.

“Our team was one of the least experienced teams in the entire league.

“Players were hand-picked from their county clubs to represent Worcestershire so some of them hadn’t played together before the league which technically put the team at a disadvantage.

“They lost their first game but quickly gelled together afterwards and went through the remainder of the league unbeaten. Their performance was phenomenal!”

The adults went down in their first two games but went on to win four, draw against leaders Rhondda Dragons and lose another.

Virtue are also enjoying success in the national leagues with the men first in Division Two and the under 16s third in the Premier League.

The mixed adult team made their debut in UK Division One.

Virtue have various county bases including in Worcester and Droitwich Spa.
