REDDITCH Borough's game with Coventry Alvis was abandoned after 45 minutes due to the pitch conditions at Mettis Aerospace Sports and Social Club.

Alvis were 1-0 up at the time on Saturday against the bottom-of-the-table side in Midland League Division Two.

Borough said on Twitter: "And in a strange turn of events the ref has decided to abandon the game at half-time, citing the pitch as not playable.

"No complaints from any of the players during the game. No one was slipping over, the ball was running freely. Never had this decision before."

There was no separating county rivals Fairfield Villa and Feckenham in Division Two with a 1-1 draw.

Dan Ludlow scored for hosts Villa on 29 minutes but Dan Murphy equalised in the second period with a penalty.

Barnt Green Spartak drew 2-2 with Lane Head.

Second-placed Inkberrow marched on in Division Three with a 4-1 home success over AFC Solihull.

Callum Davies, Brad Hands, Ben Thomas and Nathan Davies scored for the villagers who are five points behind leaders Sutton United with a game in hand.

Upton Town beat lowly visitors WLV Sport 2-0 to go up to 11th and fourth-placed Welland went down 3-1 at mid-table Coventrians.

Jason Wellings scored as Bromyard Town lost 2-1 at Gornal Colts in West Midlands League Division One.

Bromyard host Droitwich Spa, who were without a game at the weekend, in the Division One League Cup at Delahay Meadow on Tuesday night (7.45pm).

Ross Seidel was on target in second-from-bottom Worcester Raiders Reserves' 6-1 setback at Newport Town in Division Two.
