CAPTAIN Danny Bragoli is among four first-team regulars to follow manager Carl Abbott out of the Evesham United exit door.

Interim boss Neil Hunt has had a busy spell but not with matches after a week’s suspension at least for the BetVictor Southern League due to the Coronavirus outbreak.

Midfielder Bragoli was joined by wide players Brian Smikle and Matt Dodd and striker Paul Sullivan in quitting the Jubilee Stadium and looking for pastures new.

Former Quorn boss Abbott left Evesham "by mutual agreement" last week.

Hunt’s backroom staff has been bolstered by the arrival of Pete Haines, an A licence coach from Cheltenham Town under 18s, and Pete Sollis' return as physio.

The caretaker manager has recalled young players Dan Tustin and Joe Heywood.

Striker Aaron Basford has rejoined on loan from Cheltenham Town following a temporary spell with Division One South rivals Cinderford Town.

Freddie Lapworth and Callum Ebanks have also joined from Cheltenham on loan.

Keeper Lapworth, who hails from Oxfordshire, is a second-year scholar who has featured regularly in the League Two club’s first-team squad.

He has already spent time at Gloucester City, Lydney Town and North Leigh.

Teenager Basford has stepped up from the under 18s set-up to be part of the first-team matchday squad at Cheltenham.

He has been on loan at Worcester City and last December joined Evesham for the first time before scoring on his debut.

Attacker Ebanks was on loan at Worcester and Tuffley Rovers after scoring four in an FA Youth Cup win over Portsmouth in his first season as a Cheltenham scholar.

Meanwhile, the league decided to postpone all matches from last Saturday until this coming weekend inclusive due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

Ninth-placed Evesham’s trip to leaders Thatcham Town, the midweek rearranged clash at Highworth Town on Wednesday and this Saturday’s home game with AFC Totton were all called off.

The next scheduled fixture is at home to Sholing on Sunday, March 29 (3pm).

Meanwhile, Pershore Town postponed their West Midlands League Premier Division county home derby with Bewdley Town last weekend and “all games until further notice”.

The club posted on Twitter: “Due to the uncertain times caused through the outbreak of COVID-19, PTFC have taken the decision to put the players and its supporters welfare first and accordingly are postponing all games until further notice.”

Town had been due to host Wolverhampton Sporting Community on Tuesday and visit Black Country Rangers this Saturday.
