A COUNTY football club has embarked upon a new era with a change of name and venue.

Malvern Vale FC has confirmed its move to the Archdales Sports and Social and renaming as New Dales Vale FC.

The club published an update on the move via its website, which said: "With the move to Archdales Sports and Social club previously confirmed, we can now release some further details about the club's move.

"With the move to Archdales confirmed, there will also be a name change for the club as we move away from our Malvern roots. Keen to retain a part of the club's history the Vale element of the name will be retained as the club's name changes to New Dales Vale FC, working in partnership alongside existing Sunday side New Dales FC.

"The two clubs will be existing alongside each other initially as part of the move."

The new development sees a return to Saturday football at Archdales for the first time in several years. Archdales FC spent 23 seasons in the Midland Combination Leagues until the club disbanded in 2011, reaching their best ever finish of 5th in division one in the 2009/10 season having won division two in 2004/05.

The first team will continue to be coached by Devin Ward with Ashley Banner returning to the club as assistant. Banner himself was an Archdales player in their Midland Combination days, bringing a wealth of experience and knowledge to the job.

The reserves continue to be managed by Steve Dallow, who is currently exploring options for his backroom staff.

The club statement continued: "Whilst the start of the new season depends on the Covid-19 government lockdown regulations, preparations are continuing behind the scenes for the new season with a lot of work being put in so the club are ready whenever we are able to get back playing again.

"Further details to come as and when we know more, in the meantime we hope everyone is keeping safe and well.
