WORCESTER City's pre-season continued with a hard-fought win over Worcestershire rivals Redditch United as City fought back from 2-0 down to win 2-4.

The first half was an evenly matched affair and city went close after 12 minutes when Marco Adaggio narrowly headed wide from Tom Turton.

Redditch, who included former City players Kyle Perry, Adam Osbourne and Connor Gater, rarely threatened in a physical first half but they took the lead on the stroke of half time.

A well worked move followed by a driving run on the right found and un marked Perry on the back post, tapping home from a yard out.

The second half was an equally physical game with no holds barred challenges and the home side increased their lead five minutes in.

Kyle Perry who held the ball up well all game latched on to a ball over the top before setting up Shearer who had an easy finish.

City made a series of changes starting on 55 minutes when Liam Lockett and Ryan Winwood were introduced then soon after Sam Hall, Chris Withington and Josh Willis.

Within minutes, it was 2-1 as Withington set Willis up on the edge of the box, he then cut back before hitting a blistering shot into the top corner giving the keeper no chance.

Within a minute it was 2-2. A mistake from the Redditch keeper left his full brick stranded and City pounced with Josh Willis setting up Connor Mooney whose low drive beat the keeper at his near post.

The tough challenges continued to fly in from both sides and City took the lead on 72 minutes.

As Redditch defenders argued about giving away a free kick, City took full advantage by taking it quick. Dan Okojie, in acres of space on the left crossed to Mooney who flicked the ball past the keeper, giving him no chance.

With three minutes to go City made it 2-4. Josh Willis stole the ball on the half way line, driving forward before finding Liam Lockett in space, who easily beat the on coming keeper from ten yards out.

The pre-season continues on Tuesday with a trip to Wolverhapton Casuals.
