ALAN Solomons praised his young side's "valiant effort" in Warriors latest Premiership defeat to Bath on Wednesday night.

Worcester fell to an 11th league defeat in 12 Premiership games but Solomons accepted it was always going to be a challenge for his inexperienced side.

"Tonight was always going to be a tough ask," he said.

"To come here and get a positive result was always going to be difficult but I thought the boys really hung in there.

"I was speaking to Josh Matavesi after the game and he was saying how impressed he was with us and said how well they did to stick in there and not give up.

"I thought that summed it up perfectly, it was a really brave performance."

Despite their efforts it was still a disappointing evening for Warriors, who are still yet to win an away league game in 2020.

The Bath forwards were dominant throughout and proved to be far too strong for the Worcester front eight and Solomons admits it was a tough lesson for them.

"Upfront, we don't have that level of experience," he added.

"It doesn't mean the lads we have are not good players but they are still very young lads and lack that bit of experience.

"In this game we were outmuscled and they dominated the collisions, they dominated the ball and territory. The result is inevitable when that is the case.

"But they stuck to the task until the bitter end and that's the big plus."

The night was made worse by the fact that Will Butler was stretchered off in the first-half and was later seen sitting on the bench with a boot around his left ankle and on crutches.

Solomons believes the injury could be a serious one.

"It doesn't look great, we are going to have to get an X-Ray on that ankle," he said.

"Ever since I have been here he has had such rotten luck with injuries and it's so awful for him, he is such an amazing talent. But we will have to see but it's not good."

Chris Pennell also went off with a head injury and Solomons confirmed it was a failed HIA that kept him out of the game.

"He failed the test which kept him out the game but he will be assessed over the next few days."
