MALVERN Town striker Matt Turner says he "cannot wait" for tomorrow's Buildbase FA Vase first-round proper tie with Rothwell Corinthians at the HDanywhere Community Stadium.

Town begin their campaign at home to the United Counties League Premier Division outfit tomorrow and Turner is full of excitement ahead of the mouthwatering clash.

“I love big games like this,” he said.

“I’ve not been able to sit still all week in anticipation of the game and it’s only going to get worse over the next few days.

“We had a great run in this competition last season; it came to an unfortunate end in the replay at Atherstone after we put ourselves in a great position to win the tie in the home game against them.

“That only makes us even more determined to progress in this year’s competition and give the fans something to cheer about."

Turner insists the fans really play their part in these big matches and says the team is ready for the challenge against higher-league opposition.

“Our supporters are brilliant and really get behind the boys," he added.

"Particularly on big occasions like this, they can really help drive us on.

“The run that we had last season was really helped by the backing that we received from the fans and they have another important role to play. I am sure that they will rise to the challenge, particularly as we find ourselves up against higher level opponents.

“I always enjoy playing teams from the league above because it gives us a platform to show what we are capable of.

"If we win it can give us a huge amount of confidence and a real buzz to take into our league matches.

“As a team we have started the season really well; we’ve only dropped three points, which we were very disappointed about, but we have also picked up some great points from tough games.
