AS WORCESTER City begin their managerial search, City fans took to social media to give their thoughts after Ashley Vincent and his coaching staff resigned last Sunday after the dramatic 3-2 defeat in the FA Vase second-round tie with Shepshed Dynamo.
The general view is that it was the right decision for all involved that Vincent and his team moved on, with the club struggling down the bottom of the Midlands Football League Premier Division.
Fans were still appreciative of Vincent's time at the club and the style he tried to implement.
It’s time for change and pleased that is now happening. After all the hard work off that has taken place off the pitch, it’s now time to see progress on it too. Fingers crossed whoever comes in can unlock the squad’s potential #wcfc #keepthefaith

I don’t see how there was an alternative really. League form has been really, really poor and we’re now out the Vase after an embarrassing 10 minute capitulation. Good time for him to go now and it should allow us to try and rebuild for the rest of this season.

It was time for a change. Vincent tried to play good eye catching football which was nice to see but when you aren’t getting results there never seemed to be a plan B. The squad seemed to be capable at this standard but never get like it reached its full potential

Under Vincent City played attractive football that never quite worked at the level we are at. A good vase run last season and a fairly good cup run this season were not enough to hide him away from a weak league winrate of just over 30%. Glad he's gone, onwards and upwards.

It’s always sad when a manager leaves because the team haven’t achieved the goals they set for themselves, this is no different. Ash’s style of football was probably a bit too sophisticated for this level of the game, and we struggled to execute it with the personnel available.

Focus now inevitably turns to his potential replacement, with one fan suggesting Mark Owen, ex-City striker, as a potential target.
I agree under Ash Vincent City often played attractive football but team selection and tactics were often wrong and he was quick to blame others, always berating the Officials. Mark Owen my first choice, great coach, good with young players a proven track record and City Legend.

Owen, back in 2017 said he would love to manage the club, believing he could put “the fire back in the belly” of the team back when they were struggling in the National League North.
Almost four years later and City sit 16th of 19 in the MFL Premier Division table having one game all season and out of the FA Vase.
Their league season is still on hold as the non-league football clubs await the next government review into the country's tier system before continuing the season.
Tier three clubs are not permitted to have supporters at games currently due to restrictions in those areas but there is a hope they will either be relaxed or places will be dropped down into tier two, which does allow for some fans.
City had to decline the offer to play in the new 'Red Recruitment Trophy’ due to the potential clash with the third-round of the Vase and now don't have a game until the 19th, at home to Heather St Johns in the league.
That gives the club nine days to find a new management team but there remains no new information on that front.
