WORCESTER City captain Craig Jones will take charge of his first game as interim player manager tonight as City head to Bewdley Town for a friendly (7.30pm).

Jones was named the temporary boss after Ashley Vincent resigned following the 3-2 second-round Vase defeat to Shepshed Dynamo at the start of the month.

It will be only City’s second game back in almost two months against Bewdley, who play in the West-Midlands (Regional) League Premier Division and sit in the lower half of the table.

City’s league season is scheduled to start again this weekend at home to Heather St Johns, providing the league see fit to kick-start the campaign after the government review the tier system in the country tomorrow.

The clubs in the Midland Football League were asked to vote on whether they wished the league to begin again this weekend and City voted yes but it remains to be seen how the other clubs vote.

In other news, Demetri Brown will stay at the club following his release from Hereford FC but unfortunately for the forward, he has suffered an injury that could require an operation.

Brown scored a brace in his first game back with the club in the defeat to Shepshed and City will hope for a positive outcome.

Striker and big City fan favourite Marco Adaggio has agreed dual-registration terms with Ellesmere Rangers, where he will train and play for them when unable to do so for City.

News on the league situation and regarding Brown's fitness will be brought to you when information is released.
