WORCESTER City seem to be closing in on a new manager, after former striker and ex-Droitwich Spa FC boss Mark Owen confirmed he had been unsuccessful in the application process.

He tweeted this evening suggesting that it was experience which was his downfall in the end.

Another City favourite, Graham Ward, was set to be his right-hand man, should he have got the job.

The indication is that City have found their man, or are at least edging towards the advanced stages of finding a permanent manager.

Captain Craig Jones has been the interim boss for the last three weeks or so since the departure of Ashley Vincent and his coaching staff at the start of December.

Jones has overseen an unbeaten run since he started, winning three and drawing one.
