CARE home resident and former Malvern Town FC player, Colin Higgs, has been treated to a special gift to keep his spirits up during lockdown.

Colin is a resident at Blossom House Care Home in Avenue Road, Malvern and as well as being a former player, he remains an avid follower of the football club.

The club sent him a 2021 Malvern Town FC Calendar plus a pin badge, snood and some matchday programmes.

“The look on his face when he received the gifts was an absolute picture,” said Nicola Thompson, a Person-Centred Advisor at Blossom House.

“We cannot thank the club enough; this wonderful gesture helps Colin reconnect back to something that really matters to him.

“Recently we did a project with the residents to make a passion mug and Colin had no hesitation in deciding that he wanted his to have the Malvern Town FC logo on it.

Malvern Town’s clubhouse manager, Dana Hughes, explained how the fans at Malvern are hugely appreciated and it is important to them to make sure fans like Colin are acknowledged. “The fans mean a lot to us at the club, we are like one big family ,” she said.

“They are more than willing to step in and help out when needed especially on matchdays or functions we have on and we would like to do more of this in lockdown, if we can help brighten someone’s day with a little something from the club then we will.

“I haven’t met Colin personally yet but I am hoping to once restrictions are lifted and we can’t wait until we are able to welcome Colin to a game as our VIP guest and treat him like a King.

“He is very much a part of the Malvern Town FC Family and we thank him most sincerely for his support and efforts on behalf of the club.”
