THE Worcester Wolves have made moves in the market to strengthen their roster for the remainder of the British Basketball League season with the acquisition of American forward, Elijah Burns.

From Troy, New York, the 6ft 8 forward attended Blair Academy (Blairstown Township, New Jersey) before signing with the Notre Dame of NCAA D1.

In his senior year, Burns switched to NCAA D1 side Siena Saints where he averaged 14.3 points and 5.7 rebounds from 29 game starts.

Following a successful college career, Burns signed with Bulgarian NBL side BC Rilski Sportist who also compete in the FIBA Europe Cup.

Burns will add an interior presence to the Wolves front court and versatility at both ends of the floor with his offensive and defensive skill set.

Head Coach Matt Newby is excited with his latest signing and what he can bring to the team.

“We welcome Elijah to the Wolf Pack and are happy to welcome an experienced and well-rounded young man who has a strong pedigree as basketball player and an appetite to impact our environment and culture and one who I feel, will contribute immediately to our teams defensive and offensive looks.

"It has been a challenging few weeks and I feel that the team will benefit greatly from this strong addition to our rotation.”

"Burns is ready to prove himself in the BBL and contribute to a strong finish to the season."

The new man explained how this was the perfect move for him at this time in his career.

“I am very thankful for this opportunity! I really believe that the Wolves are a great fit for me. I am excited to get to work with my new teammates.

"I am looking forward to showing the Wolf Pack what I can do.”
