WORCESTER Warriors and England centre Ollie Lawrence will not be released back to the club for this weekend's Gallagher Premiership clash with Bristol Bears.

The RFU today confirmed some of the England squad members will be given the opportunity to return to their clubs for this weekend's Premiership fixtures, with the Six Nations on a rest week.

The statement read: " Some of the squad members who have received less playing time during the tournament will be given the opportunity to play for their clubs in their respective fixtures this weekend.

"This will be an individual decision for each player from a performance perspective and is in line with tournament regulations and COVID-19 protocols."

But the Worcester News understands that Lawrence will not be made available for selection for Saturday's Sixways fixture with the current league leaders.

Cornell du Preez will be able to play this weekend for Warriors, it has been confirmed this afternoon (Wednesday).

He was due to be on the bench for Scotland in France last weekend before the game was cancelled due to Covid earlier last week. The Scot did actually travelled to Gloucester as a reserve.

It is not yet known whether Bristol will get either of Max Malins or Ben Earl back, as neither of those two players have had much time on the pitch in England's previous three Six Nations matches.

They will welcome back Wales' Callum Sheedy, however, which will be a big boost for them.
