WORCESTER Warriors' young fly-half Fin Smith scored 11 points, including a try and two assists, as England Under 20s beat Scotland at Cardiff Arms Park on Friday.

Smith, 18, was selected to start for the second game in a row for England after he scored 13 points against France the weekend before last.

Having shone for Worcester in the latter stages of the 2020/21 season, Smith has transferred his form onto the international stage and is proving a huge hit in the white shirt.

He scored his maiden try at this level after 14 minutes after Harlequins hooker Sam Riley had slipped Smith a deft inside pass and also added the extras to go with an early conversion of scrum-half Jack van Poortvliet’s opening try after three minutes.

Having landed eight consecutive successful kicks over the two matches, Smith was off target with his next two conversion attempts when first Bristol Bears wing Deago Bailey then Riley powered over to secure the try bonus point.

Smith helped to set up Bailey’s try with a neat miss pass and then clinched victory with a brilliant and accurate cross-field kick which set up right wing Arthur Relton for a 71st minute try which Smith converted.

England’s next match is against Ireland at Cardiff Arms Park on Thursday July 1 (kick-off 8.00pm).
