Worcester Warriors have reversed their decision to charge season ticket holders for an upcoming friendly against Glasgow Warriors.

The club faced a wave of backlash from disappointed supporters, with many claiming that the club have never previously charged season ticket holders for pre-season games.

Now Warriors have made a U-turn, announcing that tickets to the match on Friday September 10, billed ‘The Clash’, will once again be free.

Managing director, Peter Kelly, said: “Here at Worcester Warriors, we pride ourselves on listening to our supporters and in keeping with our ‘Time for Change’ motto, we are not afraid to make changes when necessary.

“It is important that we are proactive in relation to supporter feedback, and it was the right thing for us to offer all Warriors Season Ticket Holders free entry for both of our pre-season games as we prepare for the start of the 2021/22 Gallagher Premiership season.”

The game will be a first chance for many Warriors’ fans to see their new recruits, which includes British and Irish Lions pair Duhan van der Merwe and Rory Sutherland.

The match will be doubly special as it is expected to see the return of former Worcester fly-half Duncan Weir, who departed the club earlier this year.
