"SOLID" and "dependable" were the words used by Tim Harris to describe Jake Whitehouse's performance against Highgate United on Wednesday.

The young defender played as part of a back-three for City in the 1-1 draw and looked more than comfortable alongside Aaron Roberts and skipper Craig Jones.

"I don’t like to single people out but Jake Whitehouse, on his debut, was really solid and dependable and showing a lot of maturity above his years ," said Harris.

"These youngsters, the likes of Cameron Monteith Josh Schuck, Matti Klich and Whitehouse are going to have to be patient and we will have to develop them.

"But Jake was outstanding tonight."

Regular left-back was pushed into a more forward role as Daniel Westwood was dropped due to a slight injury issue.

This allowed Whitehouse to come in and make his competitive debut for the club.

"He’s left footed and we felt with the balance, it suited well," Harris added.

"It also enabled us to play two at the top. Dan Westwood is struggling. He has a groin problem, its not too bad but he is nowhere near as sharp as he can be, that was why he was on the bench."

"Archie has a tight hamstring but they all get a bit of rest now."
