IT was a chastening afternoon for clubs on our patch in the Midlands 1 West league last weekend.

Droitwich, Worcester and Hereford were all on the wrong end of thumping defeats, with Droitwich conceding 99 points away from home at Ludlow.

Worcester did not fare much better as they were thrashed 67-8 at league leaders Kenilworth and Hereford conceded 69 points without registering any themselves in a 69-0 loss at Lichfield.

Malvern were the only side not to be beaten as they drew 3-3, yes you read that right, at home to Wolverhampton.

In the Midland Premier, Bromsgrove continued their strong start to the season with a fourth win in their opening five games.

They proved too strong for Syston, running out 31-14 victors.

Heading into Midlands 2 West (North), Stourbridge Lions won their first game of the season with a tight 13-3 victory at home to Newcastle Staffs.

Evesham RFC bounced back from their opening day defeat to Old Laurentians with a massive 90-0 win at Pinley to record their first win of the 2021/22 campaign.

In the same league, Kidderminster faced a similar fate to Evesham as they were also beaten by Old Laurentians, 26-7.

Dropping down the leagues into the Midlands 3 West (South), Bromyard went down 10-0 at Alcester, whilst Ledbury were victorious by 22-18 away at Southam.

Pershore were looking to recover from a heavy defeat in the opening game of the Midlands 4 West (South) against Chaddesley Corbett, but came up just short at home to Claverdon. The visitors narrowly edged a low-scoring game 11-10.

And finally the Midlands 5 West (South), there was a 22-0 win for Stourport, whilst Redditch were beaten by Cannock at home - 12-29.
