The 2021 Modus Cup clash is upon us once more as the Royal Grammar School and King's School Worcester go head-to-head for the famous trophy.

Following last year’s cancellation, the fierce rivalry will resume for the 14th time at Sixways this evening (7pm kick-off) as the two Worcester schools look to gain the bragging rights.

King's are the current holders, having won the 2019 edition of the fixture in awful conditions by 22-7.

RGS, who are captained by Malvern RFC’s Ben Gaubert, had won the previous two games but trail 5-8 in the overall standings.

More than 3,000 were in attendance at the home of Worcester Warriors in 2019 and after a year off, there will be even more focus and attention on the 2021 meeting.

Rob Lewis, RGS head of rugby, said excitement is building ahead of kick-off.

He said: “The atmosphere has been growing and growing.

"It has been talked about for so long, especially given the two years we’ve had.

“We’re expecting maybe 4,000 people in so it will be a great spectacle and one where the whole school will come together for the invent.

“We are trying to keep the emotions level in the squad.

“Obviously it is a large crowd and a big occasion, but we’ve been treating it as just another normal game.”

Tickets are still available for purchase on the Worcester Warriors ticketing page, which you can find here: https://www.warriors.talent-sport.co.uk/PagesPublic/ProductBrowse/ProductHome.aspx?ProductSubType=H006.
