WORCESTER Raiders could go within a point of the top of the Hellenic League Division One table this evening when they host Littleton at Sixways (7.45pm kick-off).

Raiders have two games in hand on the top two - Clanfield 85 and Cheltenham Saracens - and a win this evening would put them second, a point behind leaders Cheltenham having still played a game less.

Worcester enjoyed a battling 2-0 win over Stonehouse Town at the weekend, which was their third league win in a row and their second clean sheet in consecutive matches.

Manager Mark Owen believes the three points gained on Saturday was the best he has experienced since taking over.

"It was a fantastic result," he said

"We were under the cosh for large parts and it was a tough game.

"We tweaked a couple things in the second half and we got a brilliant result, the best I've had since I came here.

"It was another clean sheet and it proves we are going in the right way."

Raiders beat Wednesday night's opponents 4-0 in the Worcestershire Senior Cup two weeks ago but Owen knows Littleton will be out for revenge tonight.

Littleton sit in eighth place on 27 points so a win would see them keep their play-off hopes alive.

But they have lost their last two in the league and lost 4-2 at the league's bottom side Abingdon United at the weekend.

"Littleton are a decent side," he added.

"It's a derby game and I expect a tough match and I am sure they will want to turn us over and we will have to be on our metal.

"We have concreted our position in the play offs now and now our next job is to chase the top two and that starts tonight."
