City defender Fortune Maphosa has opened up on his return to the club.

In November, Maphosa joined AFC Telford but less than a month later, he finds himself back at Claines Lane.

Now, the City centre back has revealed what led to this decision.

He said: “It was a no brainer in the end, I was enjoying my football a lot here before I went to Telford and obviously have a good relationship with Tim and the coaching staff.

“The standard of coaching here was another one for me which at this level and even the next levels above you wont find and I believe I am in the right place to further develop as a player.”

Maphosa, who works as a sales advisor at a gym, is a Man United fan and also revealed his footballing idol.

He said: “I looked up at Wayne Rooney growing up, just the way he carried himself with no fear in each game was incredible.”

I started off at Coventry United within the Youth Setup and soon left there to join Tamworth youth which I then became a regular in the First Team squad. Ive gone on to play for Nuneaton, Alvechurch and Racing Club Warwick.

Since then, he has featured for Nuneaton, Alvechurch and Racing Club Warwick, before finding his way to Worcester.

Although Maphosa has only been at the club since, he has already cemented himself as an important figure in the dressing room.

He added: “As soon as Luke (English) left the Club, Billy (Shaw) jumped at the chance to try and be the DJ, that was the moment we all knew, to stop any more suffering, that I had to take on the job.

“I think the gaffer likes the choices as I've seen him bop his head along a couple of times.”

The defender has also revealed his thoughts on his new teammates.

On worst dressed he said: “'ve not really seen anyone's clobber yet outside of the dressing room environment, for now I would have to go with Archie (Muirhead) for his rascal trainers.

He also said that the biggest joker in the side is James Douglas whilst the teachers pet is Aaron Roberts.
