TEN-MAN Worcester City fell to a third defeat in four league games as their promotion hopes were dealt another blow at Stone Old Alleynians on Saturday.

Sam Wilson’s 38th-minute goal was enough to inflict the defeat and matters were worsened in the second half when City captain Aaron Roberts was sent off after an altercation with Stone’s Ryan Goodwin.

It was also the third time in four league games that Worcester had failed to score and the lack of goals will be a worry for manager Tim Harris.

Wilson’s goal came after a sustained period of possession for City, who failed to convert their dominance with the ball into clear cut chances.

Jack Tomlinson could have extended the lead for the hosts when he was sent clear down the right but he pulled his shot wide of the post when in a great position.

City desperately tried to draw level in the remaining minutes but the efforts were more in hope than good build up play and Stone held on for the points.
