FINDING a striker has become top priority for Worcester City manager Tim Harris as he looks to address recent goalscoring woes in an attempt to reignite their play-off push.

Before Tuesday night's 3-1 Worcestershire FA Senior Cup win at Kidderminster Harriers, City had managed just four goals in their last six games in the Midland Football League Premier.

That worrying form in front of goal has seen City lose four of those six and now with Daniel Westwood heading out on loan and Will Gibbons out with a virus, Harris has been forced to use skipper Aaaron Roberts as a makeshift striker in recent games.

Chinedu Osadebe has been brought in as a temporary solution this week and started against Kidderminster on Tuesday but Harris is in the market for a new frontman.

"We need another striker," he admitted

"It's something we have been looking at for a while but finding the right type of player to play at the level, that we want, has not been easy.

"I thought Robbo was excellent on Tuesday and he occupied the centre-backs problems and scored a fantastic goal.

"Will Gibbons has had a virus but is now due to go on holiday soon so up front is a position where we don't have much competition for and we have to address that as quickly as possible really."

But Tuesday will act as a reminder to City and boss Harris that they are a side that is more than capable of causing any side problems.

Despite the youthful look to the Kiddy side, they are still a professional outfit and four of the players who were on the bench for Harriers' FA Cup clash with West Ham last weekend did start against City.

But someone who regained his shooting boots on Tuesday at Aggborough was Bailey Fuller.

He scored both to make it 17 for the season and ended a run of three matches without a goal.

Harris was full of praise at full-time; "I am really pleased for Bailey.

"He played in a different position today (Tuesday), he loves to normally play on the right and cut onto his left but it was a different role tonight but his quality was still there for all to see today."

City will be hoping to use their big cup victory as a springboard for an upturn in fortunes in the league when they welcome Walsall Wood on Saturday afternoon.
