AS the 2021/22 season approaches the business end of the campaign, stand in Worcester City boss and club skipper Craig Jones insists the current squad is good enough to cope with the hectic period.

City have ten league games left to play in seven and a half weeks, as well as a Worcestershire FA Cup final thrown in there for good measure.

City kick started that run in with a much needed 2-1 victory at Highgate United last weekend, to end a run of consecutive Midland Football League Premier Division defeats.

And now with the games coming thick and fast, it will be a serious test for this still young City side.

"It's a crazy schedule coming up especially with three games in seven days towards the back end of it," said Jones.

"But we have a good enough squad to cope with the games coming up. We have some players coming back to fitness and returning from injury so we have the squad to cope with the games we have to come."

Manager for the day Jones, due to boss Tim Harris being away, expressed his delight at the dedication shown all over the pitch.

"We knew it wasn't going to be pretty but we needed to make sure we were solid and to give ourselves a platform in the game," he added.

"It was going to be a game of few chances but needed to make sure we took them and don't give them much to feed off and I thought the boys executed that plan out well.

"It wasn't pretty but we have people putting their bodies on the line and I don't think we lost a 50:50 in the first 15 minutes and that set the tempo in te first-half.

"They score a penalty, regardless of what you think about it, but you take that and I don't think they troubled us much and in the end it's a deserved win."
