THE head groundsman at Worcestershire County Cricket Club has reportedly left his role.
Reports say Tim Packwood, who has been on the staff at New Road since 1989, has resigned not long before the county's first home game of the new County Championship season.
As reported in The Cricketer, Mr Packwood has been head groundsman since 2001, and told the club he wished to pursue new opportunities elsewhere.
The Cricketer also said a number of groundstaff at New Road are understood to have resigned in recent weeks, with the club already having appointed a new head groundskeeper.
Worcestershire's first home game of 2022 gets underway on April 21 against Sussex.
Throughout his time at New Road, Mr Packwood has had to deal with regular flooding, including devastating summers like 2007, when the ground remained underwater for large parts of the season.
The Worcester News has contacted Worcestershire CCC for more information.
