WORCESTER City chairman Steve Goode has reflected on the season just gone and is looking forward to an "exciting summer" ahead.

In a piece to the club and supporters, he looked back on an interesting season which saw the team start slowly before putting themselves in a strong position to finish fourth overall.

He wrote: "I would like to congratulate Tim, the squad and all of the staff on an entertaining and enjoyable season.

"The long Christmas break didn’t help, along with all of the injuries we accumulated, but it was fantastic to see the squad grow, and it sets us up for an exciting summer and 2022/23 season moving forward.

"Since the season has finished, the board and I have been hard at work, looking to move the club forward off the pitch.

"Sponsorship is huge for our football club and we have been working hard to secure new and existing sponsors for the season ahead.

"Regarding Claines Lane, we have plans to improve the playing surface and are looking at improving the standing areas around the pitch for supporters.

"We have taken fan feedback on board, and we can assure you these are both top priority."

He added planning and discussion is now underway between City manager Tim Harris and the board around how best to prepare for next season.

The updates concluded with a call for more volunteers and a thanks to supporters for sticking with the club during the last few years.

Mr Goode added: "Now we are back home and playing in the City, I am making a call for your help to make the Club a success on and off the pitch. We are always looking for more volunteers on match days.

"Even if you can only help for an hour or two, please do get in touch: chairman@worcestercityfc.org.

"Finally, I would like to say to all City fans, on behalf of myself and my fellow directors, a massive thank you for sticking with us over the turbulent times in exile.

"We have now returned to our Faithful City and are now back in the local community where the club belongs. Onwards and upwards."
