Worcestershire have provided a positive injury update regarding all-rounder Joe Leach.

The former skipper underwent a scan after missing the LV=Insurance County Championship match with Derbyshire at the Incora County Ground last week because of a back problem.

There were fears it was a stress fracture but those fears have been eased after the scan, which showed a more positive outlook.

He is set to be out for around two to three weeks but with The Pears now having a two week break from county cricket to allow for the start of the 2022 T20 Vitality Blast, Leach should be back for the next fixture with Durham on June 12.

"The scan results came back yesterday (Thursday), and it is a much more positive outlook than it might have been," said Chairman Paul Pridgeon.

"It is good news. Joe is a talisman for the team, one of our front-line bowlers, and it is always good to have him in the side.

"I would hope he would be back in the mix for the next Championship match, so we are delighted."
