Redditch born tennis player Lloyd Glasspool will play in this year’s men’s doubles draw at Wimbledon.

Glasspool, 28, partners Harri Heliövaara (Finland) and are seeded 15 in the competition after reaching Round 3 in the tournament as wildcards last year.

The pair have entered the tournament after finishing runners up in the Queen’s Club Championships, a match which was decided by a championship tie-break.

Glasspool and Heliövaara will play Hugo Gaston of France and the Italian Lorenzo Musetti in the first round of Wimbledon, which is scheduled to take place on the 29th June.

Glasspool, who now lives in Birmingham, has one ATP World Tour 250 Series title to his name – the Open 13 Provence and is currently studying at the School of Business and Economics at Loughborough University.

He is known by many tennis fans due to his relationship with former British No.1 Heather Watson. Watson won the Wimbledon mixed doubles title in 2016, and her relationship with Glasspool came to an end in 2018.

Glasspool moved to the US to further his tennis career when he was recruited to play for the University of Texas.

The player’s best Grand Slam finish was at this year’s French Open where he reached the quarter finals, with that and his Queen’s Club success putting him on a steady road for a good Wimbledon tournament this year.
