A number of non-league clubs across Worcestershire will be keeping an eager eye on the FA website this afternoon as the draw for the FA Cup extra-preliminary round takes place.

Step 5 clubs, the lowest level involved in the competition, will discover who they will face in the very first step of the prestigious tournament.

Worcester Raiders are in it for the first time in their history and join the likes of Worcester City, Malvern Town, Stourport Swifts and Bewdley Town in the hat for the draw that takes place on Friday afternoon.

There has been some confusion over how Raiders are involved due to their owners also owning another club in the competition (Morecambe FC) but they will be involved for the very first time on Saturday, August 6 when the ties are played.

The club state they are a 'members only' club, which is the reason they are able to compete.

And manager Karl Gormley is still trying to wrap his head around the idea that he will lead his beloved Raiders into the historic competition on debut.

"When I started at the club six or seven years ago with the men's team, if you had told me we would now be in the FA Cup, I would have laughed at you more than anyone," said the boss.

"For us to get that bit of luck with the promotion and now to be in the FA Cup, it is a massive achievement in itself.

"But now we are in it and we will try and do our very best as we always do.

"We are all hoping for a favourable draw and whoever we get, we will give it our best shot."

Of course Raiders could draw neighbours City theoretically given they are now playing at the same level.

And when asked if he'd enjoy the prospect of a local derby with their city rivals, he added: "Would love it!"

Each of Malvern, City, Stourport and Bewdley crashed out at the first hurdle last season, all in rather emphatic fashion.

City and Stourport both shipped four in games against Coventry United (4-1) and Lichfield City (4-0) respectively, whilst Malvern lost 3-1 to Highgate and Bewdley were dumped out by Gresley (3-0).

The likes of Evesham United, Alvechurch, Bromsgrove Sporting and Redditch United will enter in later rounds.
