Malvern Town’s pre-season preparations continued on Wednesday night as they ran out 3-2 winners at Bewdley Town.

Goals from Ben Hayes and Matt Turner put the visitors 2-0 up inside half an hour before former Malvern striker Kyonn Evans pulled one back on the stroke of half-time.

Bewdley levelled mid-way through the second-half but with ten minutes remaining, Josh Payne tapped home the winner.

It was another good work out for Lee Hooper’s men, who are now just under two weeks away from their Hellenic League Premier season kicking-off.

Following last weekend's 4-0 defeat to National League North side Hereford, Malvern were keen to show a response as they made the short trip to Bewdley.

It was a strong start from Hooper's men and they opened the scoring after 20 minutes as Louis Loader found Hayes with a cutting through ball and the forward slotted home.

Only six minutes had passed before The Hillsiders doubled their advantage through Turner, with the striker heading home from Jack Horrell's accurate cross into the box.

Malvern came agonisingly close to making it three when Loader saw his chip over the keeper come back off the angle of post and bar.

The lead was then halved a minute before the interval when Evans made no mistake from close range.

Changes were made at the break and into the second-half, meaning chances were at a premium until just after the hour mark when Ben Worthington capitalised on a midfield mistake to level.

Both sides looked for a winner with the keeper's making saves at each end before more good work from Horrell eventually enabled Payne to score the winner.
