TWO county pool stars are heading to Malta next week to compete in the European Eight-ball Championships.

Worcester's Marc Evans and Josh Craze, of Evesham, will be representing Wales at the Dolman Resort from Monday to Friday.

Evans is competing in the men's team event and singles category, while teenager Craze is captain of the Welsh junior side.

He heads to the championships as the joint number one ranked player across Worcestershire and is looking to reach the last 16 of the singles event for the first time.

The 30-year-old also believes his country have what it takes to land the team title for the first time.

Evans, who plays for Hotshots in Worcester Pool League Division One, said: "The last time I played in the Europeans I got to the last 32 so I would like to do better than that.

"Wales lost the world final in June to England so hopefully we can win the title this time.

"This is my first big competition for a while so hopefully this year we can go one better than we have previously."
