Worcester Raiders’ maiden FA Cup campaign continues tomorrow tonight with a replay against Daventry Town.

Captain Joe Billingham earned Raiders a 2-2 draw against their step four opposition on Saturday in the extra-preliminary round of the world’s oldest football competition.

The two sides will meet once again on Wednesday evening, a 7:45pm kick-off at Sixways to decide who will progress to the next round.

Meanwhile for Daventry Town it marked the start of their competitive season, having finished last year in 16th place and 15 points clear of relegation.

The Northern Premier League Midland side suffered a difficult pre-season against sides such as Coventry Sphinx, AFC Rushden & Diamonds, and Stratford Town.

One league above Raiders, Daventry demonstrated their higher-level status early on as captain Jack Bowen put the hosts ahead with 23 minutes gone.

However, Raiders almost instantly found themselves back in the game when Jordan Murphy lobbed the Daventry keeper James Martin following a defensive mix-up.

Daventry regained the lead shortly after, debutant Hashim Bakar putting the Purple Army  2-1 up with 31 minutes played.

A change of shape saw Raiders come into the game in the second half as Daventry looked incapable of handling the visitors’ new approach.

Billingham tucked away a neat finish to level the score 73 minutes into the game, earning his side a midweek replay at home.
