A key player has been ruled out for the season, Worcestershire CCC has confirmed.

Josh Baker has suffered a stress reaction in his lower back and will not feature for the Pears again this season as treatment continues.

The club has also provided an update on several other injuries affecting the squad.

Kashif Ali broke his right thumb whilst fielding against Lancashire.

It has been estimated that his return will take up to six weeks.

Meanwhile, Charlie Morris will undergo knee surgery which means he also wont feature again this season.

Ben Gibbon also has a knee injury, which will require ongoing assesment.

Warwickshire-bound Ed Barnard split his right finger, meaning he will only play as a batter for the time being.

Finally, Josh Tongue is said to be progressing well from a shoulder injury.

The 24-year-old played club cricket last weekend and is due to take to the field again this weekend.
