EVEN though the promotion champagne still has some fizz left in it, the Malvern management team are already looking ahead to next season and the extra demands that Midlands One status will make on the club's finances.

Director of rugby Dave Robins said: "We will have far greater travelling costs as we go to places like Bedford and Peterborough.

"We will also have to expand our squad and, while we remain an amateur club, promotion will still bring extra expense in terms of kit, training gear, food and the like.

"We have been fortunate our sponsors Statcom, LSA Financial Services and Coors have backed us significantly.

"However, we need to inject more funds into the playing side of the club. We will therefore be looking to our backroom staff to generate additional revenue through more sponsorship and other fundraising."

The club's committee are also looking at additional revenue streams, such as sponsoring players for the season, and making the clubhouse more widely available to other organisations.

Any businesses or organisations who may be interested in sponsoring Malvern Rugby Club can contact Tony Brook at tonyb@malvernrfc.co.uk while anyone wishing to enquire about using the clubhouse facilities should call Mike Calvert or Jane Payne on 01684-573728 or e-mail club chairman@malvernrfc.co.uk
