WARNDON Villages Sharks Under 10s have secured the Stourport Youth League and cup double.

Matt Sowden scored the only goal as champions Sharks defeated a well-organised Kidderminster Lions side 1-0.

They became the first team from Warndon Villages to win a Stourport League Cup final.

Sharks were without Kieran Burns who suffered a leg injury in an accident the day before.

Callum Parker held the ball up well in attack with wide players Jaz Milward and Sam Langston supporting.

Sowden drove one effort just wide of the post and then turned Milward's corner narrowly off-target.

The Lions' keeper produced his best to deny Parker on two occasions before the interval.

In the second period, Parker hit the upright with a curler but Lions also went close with a flowing right-wing move.

Joseph Kealey then had to clear off the line and keeper Harry Stanley was called into action as the Kidderminster side exerted pressure.

But Sharks then took the lead when sub Louis Cafferkey's cross was only half-cleared and Parker found Sowden whose mis-hit shot foxed the keeper.

Sowden later hit the bar and sub Jordan Slade was denied by the keeper. Stanley provided a match-winning save to secure another trophy.

UNDER 18s: Perrywood AFC exited the league cup semi-finals in a 12-goal thriller.

The Worcester side, crowned Division Two champions, lost 8-4 at Division One high-fliers Halesowen Town.

An end-to-end encounter st arted at a frantic pace with both sides scoring in the first five minutes.

Halesowen took control with three quick goals to lead 4-1 after 20 minutes.

As the game settled, Josh Butler hit his second but Perrywood conceded again to go into half-time 5-2 down.

An inspired start to the second period saw Dan Pitt's strike and a fine volley from captain Leigh Godson pull the score back to 5-4.

However, Halesowen then imposed their superiority and scored three more times to seal victory and a final against Callowbrook Swifts.

UNDER 11s: A goal one minute from the end of extra-time broke Nunnery Wood Panthers' hearts as they lost 1-0 to Areley Kings in the league cup final.

A crowd of more than 100 saw two evenly-matched sides give everything. Keeper Joe Gilbert produced one of his finest performances of the season as did Harry Green at the back.

Skipper Harry Clark led by example, Callum McDonough drove and battled, Dan DeGaris did not put a foot wrong, Harley Brewster was uncatchable and Jaber Ahmed performed like he has for years. Ben Williams impressed and Sam Rothery was full of tricks.

After 50 minutes, the teams were deadlocked at 0-0 but Areley scored in extra-time with a drive from the edge of the area.
