REJUVENATED wing Marcel Garvey insists he has never given up his desire to play international rugby and hopes his scintillating current form may be enough to help him achieve that goal.

As a youngster at Gloucester, Garvey was tipped as the next Jason Robinson, but his career went off the rails as he struggled for form before opting for a switch to Sixways after slipping down the Kingsholm pecking order.

Initially at Worcester, he only sporadically showed what he was capable of.

But this season the pacy wing has been in tip-top form and a place in the England Saxons squad for the tour of North America this summer would be merited. Garvey, who has represented England A' and was an integral part of the under 21 World Cup team in 2004, said: "Playing for England Saxons is not in my thoughts at the moment, but I've definitely got aspirations to play for my country.

"Worcester are pushing forward at the moment and playing well, so hopefully something like that will come sooner rather than later.

"I've never lost faith because every player aspires to play for their country.

"If you look at Paul Sackey, he didn't get his first cap until he was 27, but he kept sticking at it and hopefully that will happen for me too.

"I just play the way I play and keep going to the best of my ability - sometimes you'll have a good day and other times you won't. For me personally, I have to back up my performances week on week.

"The bounce of the ball is going our way a bit more now and we have to build on it.

"The latter part of the season has come good for us, but it is just a shame we couldn't have done it from the first game of the season at Bath. However, we are safe this year and we are thankful for that."
