FOR the duration of the 2007/08 season, I have been marking the Worcester City players out of 10 for their performances in matches.

It has not been an easy task and some gradings and comments have not always been well received by players and fans alike.

But that's football. It's a game on which everyone has an opinion, with rarely one the same.

However, now that the season has finished following the 1-0 defeat at Barrow, it has been interesting to see who has been City's most consistent performer.

I have taken an average for all players starting more than 15 league and cup matches and here are the results.

Goalkeeper Cameron Belford, who has since returned to Bury following his loan spell, finished with the top average rating of 7.25.

Belford was an inspiration during his 24 appearances and I awarded him man-of-the-match on several occasions.

Another loan player, Jon Munday, finished second in the list with an average of 7.2 from his 20 starts.

Mark Danks was third with 6.91 following seven goals from 23 starts.

Ryan Clarke, who scooped both the players' player and supporters' player of the year gongs, finished a surprising fourth with an average of 6.82.

Clarke, however, played 48 of City's 49 games this season, more than double that of Belford and Danks.

Elsewhere, Craig Wilding, who finished as top-scorer with eight goals following the departure of Emeka Nwadike, averaged 6.61, while captain Chris Smith scored 6.47.

For the record, Rapinder Gill rated as the lowest with an average of 5.95 from 23 starts.
