VERSATILE Gavin Hurren's three-year stay at Kidderminster Harriers has come to an end after he was released by the Blue Square Premier club.

The 22-year-old former Nottingham Forest player made 101 appearances for the club since joining in the summer of 2005 and scored eight goals.

But ex-West Bromwich Albion winger Brian Smikle, 22, has signed a new one-year contract to extend his stay into a third campaign at Aggborough.

Striker Matthew Barnes-Homer, also 22, who scored seven goals in 39 games in 2007/08, has also penned a deal for next season.

However, Hurren said: "I am upset to leave because I have been with Kidderminster three years and have made a lot of friends.

"I have spoken to the manager and he decided it was time for me to move on."

Boss Mark Yates said: "There were one or two things we had left to talk about and, in the end, it was decided it was best for all parties if Gavin goes to play football elsewhere."
