WORCESTER City have shown their support for neighbouring rugby side Worcester Warriors after the Sixways-based club entered administration on Monday.

City have opened their arms to players and staff at Warriors, offering them free entry for this weekend's Midland Football League game with Uttoxeter Town.

It comes after the Warriors were both suspended by the RFU and then placed into administration inside 90 minutes.

The rugby cub were given a 5PM deadline on Monday to provide assurances they could fund the remainder of the 2022/23 season but they did not meet it and were therefore suspended with immediate effect.

Their Premiership game with Gloucester Rugby has been postponed but City are offering those without a game to follow, the chance to take in some local sport just down the road.

A statement read: "Worcester City's thoughts are with the Worcester Warriors' players, staff and supporters. This is a huge loss to the Worcester Sporting community and we stand by you and hope you return to the field of play as soon as possible.

"We, as a community football club, would like to extend an invitation to the staff and players to attend our next home game on Saturday vs Uttoxeter Town free of charge."

The club ask that proof of ID/employment is shown at the turnstiles.
